CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL SONGS MAPPILA PATTUKAL HINDU DEVOTIONAL SONGS

Christian devotional song is a hymn which accompanies religious observances and rituals.

Each major religion has its own tradition with devotional hymns in all time. In the West, the devotional has been a part of the liturgy in Roman Catholicism, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Russian Orthodox Church, and others, since their earliest days. A devotional is a part of the prayer service proper and is not, in these contexts, ornamentation. During the Protestant Reformation, church music in general was hotly debated. Some Puritans objected to all ornament and sought to abolish choirs, hymns, and, inasmuch as liturgy itself was rejected, devotionals.

In Eastern and Near-Eastern religions, devotionals can function as communion prayer and meditation. These are sung in particular rhythms which are sustained over a prolonged period of time to give practitioners a mystical experience. The famous devotional singers in Christian Malayalam language are ... K.J Markos. Kester and  Binoy Chacko.

Mappila Paattu or Mappila Song is a folklore Muslim devotional song genre rendered to lyrics in Arabic-laced Malayalam, predominantly by Muslims or (Mappilas) of the Malabar belt of Kerala in south India.

Mappila songs have a charm of their own as their tunes sound a mix of the ethos and culture of Kerala as well as West Asia. They deal with diverse themes such as religion, culture, love, satire and heroism.

Significantly, the first gramophone record in Malayalam language was a Mappila song. That was cut in 1925, when Gul Mohammed, father of celebrity artist K.G. Sathar, recorded his voice in gramophone. Many Mappila songs have been released thereafter on records, though very few of them are considered authentic. The first Muslim lady to render Mappila songs is Sara Gul Mohammed (wife of Gul Mohammed). The couple have also a number of gramophone records to their credit, they are the parents of famous music director Aziz Bava.

A bhajan or kirtan are the best examples of  Hindu devotional Songs. Music to human ears is heavenly. And if it's purely devotional, it's truly divine. Music always give happines in our life. Bhajans are deeply rooted in the Indian tradition. Bhajans are simple songs in soulful language expressing the many-splendor emotions of love for God.

The groundwork for bhajans was laid in the hymns found in Sama Veda, the fourth Veda in the Hindu scriptures. They are distinguished from the Sanskrit shlokas (hymns that accompany religious rituals) by virtue of their easy lilting flow, the colloquial renderings and the profound appeal to the mass.
